New ways of working and pervasive technologies - challenging the "anything, anywhere" syndrom
Monday 14:15 - 15:15 (Conference Hall)
Anything, anywhere, anytime seems to be the mantra behind the design of most mobile and pervasive technologies. Manage your stock while you shop for a fur coat for your wife, handle your work on the train! Empirical studies, in contrast, illustrate how people who have always worked while moving about, undertake their work rather differently. The talk illustrates how and why "anything anywhere" fails, and points to some different design strategies and solutions that better support actual flexible and mobile work.
