Abstract: This talk will take you through the last 12 years of Java developments, give you an overview of the current Java platform, significant technologies, players and developments in the history of Java. We will focus on "why" things are the way they are today. This will provide a deep understanding about the current status of the platform. Therefore you be able to build better architectures - or get started with Java more easily. Also it will give a good foundation to guess where Java is going in the future. We will cover a variety of topics: Standards, Open Source, Client, Server, Persistence, Web ....

Regional Director Eberhard Wolff

Eberhard Wolff has been working as a developer, consultant and trainer for enterprise solutions based on Java technologies ever since Java became available. He has authored three books including the first German book on Spring. He regularly contributes to conferences and writes articles for several journals. Eberhard is a founding member of the Java Champions and works as Regional Director for SpringSource in Germany.
