Eberhard Wolff has several years of experience as a developer, consultant and trainer for enterprise solutions based on Java technologies.

He is authored three books including the first German book on Spring, which is also the first book to cover Spring 2.0. He regularly contributes to conferences and writes articles for several journals.

Eberhard is a founding member of the Java Champions and works as Managing Consultant for Interface21 in Germany.

Abstract:

Spring's approach to persistence and state management is unique: Spring is a meta framework in this field. It does not bring its own solution to the table but integrates with other frameworks. Spring also decouples the code from the infrastructure. This simplifies the use of new technologies and the migration to them.

This talk looks into the supported technologies for state management and in the persistence area like JDBC, iBATIS and several O/R mappers and how Spring adds value to them. We also look into how these topic influence the architecture of a typical Spring application.
