Hubert Smits, Rally Software Development Corp.

 Hubert  Smits

Hubert Smits works for Rally Software in Boulder - Colorado as an Agile Coach and Trainer. As a ScrumMaster since 2003 and a Scrum Trainer since 2005 he has helped many teams around the world in their transitioning towards Agile and Scrum.

His focus is on transitioning large organizations to Scrum, with BMC and AOL as examples of recent customers. He brings experience of working with distributed teams and program size implementations to his talks.

Hubert has published articles on this topic (A CIO Playbook for Implementing Scrum and Five Levels of Planning in Agile Projects) and is a frequent speaker at conferences.

Abstract:

Hubert explains how the Scrum Sprint Planning concept is extended to make it usable in software development initiatives that are larger than the single-team concept.

You will learn how release plans enable multiple teams to synchronize their work and how dependencies are discovered through team-planning initiatives at Release and Sprint level.

Hubert will use many examples of his work as an Agile consultant to show you practices that work or that do not work.

Abstract:

Applying the concepts of Scrum in program size initiatives are a reality these days.

Hubert explains how Scrum concepts like Sprint Planning and Stand-up meetings can scale to the program level. You will learn about the Agile Maturity concept, and how you can recognize which Agile skills are available or absent in your teams.

The Scrum concept of continuous improvement is extended from project to program level, and you will learn how these changes impact program management.
