Abstract:

Planon is an ISV in the Integrated Workplace Management business. A few years ago, the product development team switched to Scrum.

In this presentation, the focus will be on the implementation aspects of Scrum in a multi-team, multi-product environment.

Maarten Smeets, Planon

 Maarten  Smeets

Current position: Product Development Manager.
Born: October 6, 1974

Working for Planon since 2006.
Responsible for the development of the standard Planon Software Products.

After completing his M. Sc. in Business Information Systems in 1998, Maarten Smeets has worked for Product Software manufacturing companies throughout his career. He is specifically focused on managing software manufacturing in his current position as well as in previous positions. Maarten is involved in optimizing software development processes and refining the Scum practices within the Planon product development department. He currently is working on (partly) off shoring Planon?s product development using Scrum.

Previous engagements:

  • 2004 - 2006: Development Director of Tridion Development Lab B.V (Amsterdam)
  • 2003 - 2004: Product Line Manager Content Delivery Tridion Development Lab B.V
  • 1998 - 2003: Engineering Manager for Data Distilleries (Amsterdam) (end-stage position after having fulfilled various software development functions)

Erik Jaspers, Planon

 Erik  Jaspers

Current position: CTO
Born: May 24, 1958

Working for Planon since 1999. Responsible for defining the Product Development Agenda.

After completing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1981, Erik Jaspers moved to software development and IT management. After spending a number of years in IT management, he moved over to a product development management position with Planon.

He is specifically focused on process and product innovation and was responsible for the introduction of Scrum within Planon in 2003. Nowadays Erik is involved with developing Agile Product Management practices, based on Scrum.

  • 1993 ? 1996: Project Manager & Service Leader for Origin (nowadays ATOS)
  • 1985 ? 1992: Software developer / project manager for Philips Semiconductors
