Presentation: "If I was going to Glasgow, I wouldn't start from here"
Track:
What Makes Agility Work?
Time: Tuesday 17:00 - 17:45 Location: Conference Hall 2
Abstract: The real title of this talk is "If I was going to Glasgow, I wouldna' start from here: Stories of where not to start from, how to tell you're starting from one of them, and how to sidle toward a better starting place if you did start from one of them." Kind of like when you're at the bottom of a wet cliff wearing sneakers instead of climbing boots, and your boss is poking at you with a sharp stick, saying "Get going." There may not be very many solutions hiding in this talk, because rather by definition, you've started in the wrong place, and you probably don't have the power to restart from a better place. However, it may be useful just to know that you're at one of those faux starting places. Consultants seem to recognize them, because they warn each other all the time about such projects. Wouldn't you like to know what these consultants are looking at when they make these judgements? And what they do when they get a chance to change the rules a bit?
Tutorial: "Crystal Clear: A Human-Powered Methodology for Small Teams"
Track:
Tutorial
Time: Friday 09:00 - 16:00 Location: SAS Suecia
Abstract:
Crystal, one of the founding agile methodologies, is a "family" of methodologies for different types of project teams. Crystal Clear is the lightest, intended for a colocated team of 3-8 people. It's distinguishing characteristic is that it is tailored by the team as they start the project, and reshaped by the team several times along the project. It aspires to set the fewest process rules in front of team and still give them guidance in succeeding. This tutorial introduces the Crystal family with its genetic code, the reasons and rules for shaping methodologies, and Crystal Clear itself in more detail. Learn the seven properties of successful software projects, learn how to unroll the iterative lifecycle, see actual work products (not just templates) created by agile project teams, and get exposure to some of the less-known agile techniques such as blitz planning and the mid-project reflection workshop. |
