Neal Gafter, SUN

/alltime/images/speakers/neil_gafter.jpg Neal has been working in compilers since 1981. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester in 1990. His main interests are compiler technology to support integrated programming environments, programming language design, and automated instruction selection. He is currently developing and supporting Sun Microsystem's Java compiler and language tools (javac, javadoc, javah, javap). If you want to take a look at his baby, download Sun's prototype implementation of JSR14, Adding Generics to the Java Programming Language. It includes all of the language features slated to go into Tiger (1.5), with the notable exception of JSR 175 (metadata). Neal plays in the Foresight Exchange, a long term game of predicting the future. He has implemented a Market Maker Robot for the game.
