Abstract: The clean separation between the presentation and business logic enables the transparent distribution of the server and client.
In contrary a pure P2P architecture does not distinguish between typical client and server responsibilities.
This session presents some synergy effects merging these two distinct worlds together. Especially the non-functional requirements
like extendibility, scaleability, manageability and interesting P2P concepts (data distribution, advertisements, walkers etc) will be considered.

Abstract: Thin Client Architectures promise better extendibility, maintainability and code quality in the whole software lifecycle. Are thin clients actually the best choice for building interactive rich clients? This session describes an alternative achitecture to ultra thin client and SOA. Beyond pure theory examples from the real world projects will be discussed. Especially object oriented alternatives to component based development with real world technologies (J2EE, Swing/RCP, JDO, CMP 2.0/3.0, Hibernate) will be presented.

Adam Bien is an independent speaker, software architect,developer, consultant, author and BEA Technical Director. Adam has been working with Java and J2EE from the beginning (JDK 1.0 and Servlets/EJB 1.0)in different large scale projects and is an expert group member in the JCP.org. He has edited several books about Java and J2EE technology ("J2EE Patterns", "J2EE HotSpots", "Enterprise Java Frameworks" and "Struts").Now he is involved as architect and developer in several J2EE/MDA-projects in Europe. He is also working with embedded Java and P2P technologies.
