Presentation: "Grails: Next Generation Spring plus Hibernate Development"

Time: Tuesday 15:40 - 16:40

Location: SAS Nortvegia

Abstract:

Grails is a next generation dynamic web application framework based on Groovy and in this talk Grails' creator, Graeme Rocher, introduces the framework and features. Based and solid, industrial strength technologies such as Spring & Hibernate, Grails offers the best of both the dynamic language platforms and the strengths of the Java platform.

Not just a web framework, but a full stack experience including an ORM layer built on Hibernate, a rich scripting environment, and the richness of the Spring platform Grails offers Java developers the ability to be productive without the pain. Embracing the "convention over configuration" and "don't repeat yourself" (DRY) paradigms, Grails aims to lower the barrier of entry to Java-based web development without taking away its flexibility.

In this session Graeme will introduce Grails, and then demonstrate how Grails can be used to build slick web applications. Quickly. In addition, the session will reveal how Grails can seamless interoperate with Java and frameworks like Spring & Hibernate.
