Abstract: JRuby is a Java implementation of the Ruby interpreter, being developed by the JRuby team (primarily Sun Microsystems and ThoughtWorks). In addition to being a hi-performance standard ruby interpreter, JRuby can also be used to utilize the extensive resources on the Java platform, including the standard Java class libraries and third party or open source libraries. In addition, with JRuby, integrating with your company's EJBs and other Java infrastructure becomes a snap. When you realize that you can even deploy your Rails applications on a standard Java application server like IBM's Websphere or Sun's Glassfish, you know for sure that JRuby is Java enterprise ready!
