 Open Source Enterprise Java

Host: Bruce Snyder, LogicBlaze

Open source software has been used for years in tools, frameworks and libraries, but only in recent years has open source software been viewed as a key component in enterprise systems. Many open source projects have become staples for the middleware world including Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Axis, Apache Derby, Eclipse, Hibernate, Jetty, JBoss, JOnAS, Apache Geronimo, Mule, Apache ServiceMix, Spring, Apache Tomcat, XFire - the list could on and on. These projects have become de facto standards for enterprise Java development. The reasons for the success are many and include the continuous innovation from the open source community and the community-driven style of development. This track will discuss these innovative environments and the manner in which open source software is developed.
