Presentation: "Boosting project productivity with an integrated approach using Caché and Jalapeño."
Track:
Performance in Modern Enterprise Systems
Time: Tuesday 17:00 - 17:45 Location: SAS Nortvegia
Abstract:
Most, if not all, talks about development performance (as opposed to runtime performance) are based on the assumption that any data store used by the project will be relational, and that business logic will be accommodated in the database (as stored procedures) or on a JavaEE application server (not to mention on the client application). Those assumptions have a large implication on project productivity. Relational databases are a large overhead with regards to handling both data and code, not to mention maintaining the DBMS itself, and JavaEE still has to prove that it is capable of promoting developer productivity at all. A solution exists, and it's called InterSystems Caché: an enterprise-grade DBMS that seamlessly integrates the (ANSI-compliant) relational and object-oriented approaches, and a no-nonsense runtime environment to accommodate your middle-tier business logic. This novel approach allows you to drastically cut your development time. Moreover, Caché comes with a POJO persistence technology ("Jalapeño") that is easier to use and better integrated than any other OO/relational mapping tool. This presentation will demonstrate this integrated approach to the data persistence and business logic tiers, and show how it can boost the productivity of your development team. You will see why Caché and Jalapeño were chosen by Karolinska hospital in Stockholm and IBM's worldwide support center, for the exceptional project development productivity they provide. |
