Managing Director and Trackhos Mogens Nørgaard, Miracle AS

Managing Director and Trackhos Mogens Nørgaard

Mogens worked as a DBA for four years before joining Oracle Support. While heading Premium Services in Oracle Denmark, he became the first manager inside Oracle to insist that his staff should use Anjo Kolk's YAPP method, in other words stop using guesswork and start using time-based measurements.

In late 2000 Mogens co-founded Miracle A/S, a database specialist company delivering consulting, training and support services.

Mogens has presented at many conferences and written articles and contributions to various books. He writes columns for Computerworld Denmark, the Danish Oracle Ekspert magazine, and for Oracle user groups in the UK, US and South Africa.

Mogens co-founded the OakTable Network - a group of Oracle leading scientists - in his kitchen, co-founded the BAARF Party - a movement against inefficient disk technologies, and owns 47% of a micro brewery, Micrale Breweries. He also invented the We Do Not Use-method for handling phone sales people.

Presentation: "Trends in database-centric systems: We're all legacy"

Track:   Relational Databases

Time: Monday 10:15 - 10:45

Location: SAS Nortvegia

Abstract: Do you see any new, fresh faces among the DBA's? Among the system admins? It seems it's a dying field of expertise, with the same old people meeting each other and a few migrating out of there to find something else to do. The presentation will focus on why this seems to be the case, and how to take advantage of it - especially if you'd like to be very sought-after in the next couple of decades. Also, the current state-of-art on tuning/optimisation, and where to go next, will be covered.
