Presentation: "Patterns for building a beautiful company"
Wednesday 13:00 - 13:45 Protected Room
Many of us dream of working in companies where we feel alive, where work is something we look forward to each day, where we feel that we're part of something bigger. A lot of us may have heard of such companies; some of us may have even worked in such companies. It turns out that there are many underlying common aspects to the way these companies are born, grow and flourish. Aspects and principles that we can distil, that we can consciously use and apply in growing our own companies. These aspects and principles are patterns of the beautiful company.

Tutorial: "Retrospectives and Patterns"
Thursday 09:00 - 16:00
This tutorial presents two complementary techniques to understanding and improving your organization.
Retrospectives and patterns have become popular techniques on their own. Retrospectives are an approach to making sense of key events in your organization's history, drawing out important lessons and perspectives, and generating common understanding among people in the organization. Organizational patterns describe solutions to recurring classes of problems in the organizaton, describing the forces and decisions to be made when choosing/applying the solution. Individually, both approaches are powerful but have their limitations. This tutorial presents an approach that combines the use of retrospectives and patterns to help your organization learn from the past and to drive change for the future.
Part I. Retrospectives
Introduction: What's a retrospective?
Exercise. What can be learned? Lead-in to Part II.
Part II. Pattern mining
Introduction: What's a pattern (for writers)? Pattern write as a group based on retrospective data from Part I.
Do writers workshops in small groups.
