Presentation: "Persisting Java Objects and EJBs in Relational Databases - Java Persistence Layers"
Tuesday 13:00 - 13:45, Tutorial Room
The most underestimated challenge faced by enterprise Java developers is overcoming the mismatch between objects and databases. Architects frequently consider this problem as "OR Mapping" and assume that base app server technology will address their needs. This presentation reviews persistence layer issues such as developer productivity, OR mapping issues including storing objects across multiple tables and inheritance - but focuses on run-time infrastructure issues such as caching, just-in-time reading, querying, locking, transaction management and leveraging database features like stored procedures.
