Presentation: "Model Driven Architecture: The End of Programming as We Know It?"
Wednesday 9:00 - 9:45, Tutorial Room
After UML, now MDA is the next silver bullet from the OMG. Claims of at least a
twenty-year lifespan of your models are being made. Programming is history,
modeling is all we need. Sounds to good to be true, but what is the real promise of MDA?
Where do UML and OCL fit in? And what about MOF, XMI, and QVT? Where goes our
precious Java or C# code?
To explain the inner workings of MDA we will use an architectural framework for MDA.
This framework clarifies how all the before mentioned technologies fit together, and
shows how MDA might fullfil its promise. Also, the MDA framework allows everyone to check claims
from their favorite (or not so favorite tool vendor). Do their tools really support MDA? And to what extent?
At the end you may decide for yourself whether programmers will become an endangered
species or not.
