Andy is a freelance consultant based in the UK, specializing in .NET and Java enterprise solutions. Andy has been working with Microsoft .NET since Beta 1 days, and has authored many courses for Microsoft on a variety of .NET topics. Andy has also co-written several .NET books for Microsoft Press and Wrox Press. On the Java front, Andy has been using Java since the days when there were only six packages and you could learn all the classes over a weekend. Andy's current interests lie in using XML and Web services to integrate and deploy multi-tier solutions using .NET and J2EE, plus football and skiing where time permits.

This session provides an introduction to the world of .NET development. In this session you will learn how to create Windows applications, class libraries, Web Services, and Windows services. You will also learn how to access data using ADO.NET, and how to create Web applications using ASP.NET. In addition you will learn about XML support in .NET, and gain an insight into creating enterprise components that can leverage COM+ services. There will be many examples presented during the session; you will be able to take away C# and Visual Basic .NET code samples at the end of the session.
