OO Persistence]
This track is about OO programming, pure and simple.
We have people on this track, who know how to make a good OO language. And we have people who know what they would like to see in an OO language.
To start the track, Bjarne Stroustrup, creator of C++, explains generic programming in C++.
(Monday 10:45 - 11:30, Conference Hall)
Generic programming is a hot subject in the Java world too, and Gilad Bracha from Sun follows the thread from Bjarne Stroustrup by talking about parameterized classes in Java.
(Monday 14:00 - 14:45, Tutorial Room)
The theme is further developed by Mads Torgersen, researcher in OO languages, who describes his extensions to Java.
(Monday 16:15 - 17:00, Private Room)
In this track we also find Lars Bak, the man behind Hotspot, showing how to create robust embedded software, with an explanation of why he chose to use Smalltalk over Java for his latest project.
(Monday 13:00 - 13:45, Tutorial Room)
We also find Kevlin Henney, pattern community veteran and much more, describing how objects and unicorns are alike, or different, or ...
(Monday 15:15 - 16:00, Public Room)
Bjarne Stroustrup finishes the track with an explanation of the role of standards in the development of a programming language. He will also in particular describe how the standards process is helping shape the future definition of C++ and describe likely directions of growth.
(Tuesday 13:00 - 13:45, Conference Hall)
