Abstract: Distributed Experiments

DELTA and UNI-C has developed a system for geographical distributed real-time experiments using java servlets and applets. The new system is a 3-Tier system with a MySQL database as the backend, servlets as middleware, and HTML or applets as front-end. The system is Internet based using UDP and HTTP protocols. The applet servletcommunication is done via java object serialization. The system is designed to be general in use for a wide area of distributed experiments. A practical use has taken place during the solar eclipse on the 11th of August1999, www.sos99.dk, when the Danish intermediate schools will participate in it. The technical issues will be discussed in this session.
